Betsy Wendt
Instructor & Choreographer
Betsy Wendt has been instructing ballet and jazz for the Central Wisconsin School of Ballet since 2010. During these years, she has taught all ages and levels. Her ballet training began at a young age and continued past high school at CWSB under Madame Karkar. Throughout her dance education at CWSB, she was provided many opportunities to study dance with principal dancers and instructors from ABT, Joffrey, Boston Ballet, and San Francisco Ballet School. Some of her most memorable instructors include Wayne Stewarte, Janne Dean, Eddie Stewart, Derryl Yeager, Leslie Woodies, Vivian Tomlinson, and Judy Ann Bassing. Betsy has danced a large range of roles, from corps to solos, within the Nutcracker, Coppélia, Swan Lake, and many other variations. For Besty’s role in A Chorus Line, she was coached by and performed with Leslie Woodies, who performed the role of Cassie on Broadway. Betsy’s deep roots and connection to CWSB have provided the foundation of her love for dance and desire to share it with students. As Madame Karkar once wrote to her, “To dance is happiness.”
When Betsy is not teaching dance, she serves the community as a nurse. She received her Bachelor of Science in nursing from Chamberlain University, where she is also studying toward becoming a nurse practitioner. Currently, she cares for oncology patients in a hospital setting.
